In Grounded, two feet are cut off at the ankles and are suspended in movement, with one foot crossed in front of the other. Inspired by the sculpture Ugolino and His Sons by Jean-Baptiste Carpeux, Grounded represents the psychological trick of bringing oneself back from a dissociative state by touching the ground with bare feet. The toes of the top foot curl into the bottom foot as if further reminding the body it exists.
