In Hiatus, flowers grow out of a motionless animal’s head. The sculpture captures a frozen moment in nature, a hiatus from action, as a temporal sense of pause takes shape while everything around is moving. The gaze of the ape-like animal stares directly at the viewer as if asking for others to pause as well.
