Nibiru is a work that heavily leans into Surrealism to discuss reality versus illusion—a muscular, male torso emerges from a rough concrete base, and is a seemingly
straight forward sculpture of a body. However, from the back of the torso, large outward-facing hands extend and form wings. This motif of flight is further emphasized through the bird-like shadow puppet that the hands form when placed under a spotlight. Completely invisible from the front, the wings create an illusion; this very intentional composition asks the viewer to question what is represented in front of them.
